WHY I LOVE WHAT I DO
After having my second child, I was unhappy with the way my body looked. I tried to remedy the growing discomfort I felt with my body by attending fitness classes at a gym. After investing a lot of time and energy, I was disheartened when my efforts didn’t produce the outcome I desired. I was desperately seeking a solution, so I hired a personal trainer who put me on a strict diet…well, as you can imagine, I did not like that! Not only did I experience the lack of an outcome like I was hoping, I was also feeling bloated all the time. The extra weight refused to budge, and that in turn, lead me to become depressed. I visited a few doctors– some who couldn’t provide any answers while others prescribed medications that had adverse effects such as increased weight gain. I tried so many different diets and plans but nothing really worked.
After struggling for so long, I knew that I needed to take a different approach. I started seeing a naturopathic doctor and invested in a health coach. Gradually, I started feeling better and was able to shed some weight, much to my excitement. Through the search for a deeper connection with myself and my commitment to overcoming depression and body image issues, I gave up gluten and dairy. In addition, I altered my diet to make it more sustainable for my lifestyle, and I stayed consistent with my workouts.
As I saw a glimmer of hope, I tried out a few gyms and fitness studios until I found one that I liked. I liked it so much that I started teaching the group classes there! That led me to a life-changing turning point when I realized how much I love training and helping people. Unfortunately, after a few years, the location closed; thus, forcing me to move to a corporate gym. The saying “…when a door closes, another opens” is very apt indeed because a few months later, the gym’s fitness manager offered me a personal training position. I was very excited to train one-on-one, and I loved the energy it gave my clients.
Though 2020 was a very challenging year, especially in the context of health and fitness, it gave me a chance to really evolve and follow my passion. I started studying to become a health/life coach, and the more I studied, the more I realized that this was the right journey for me. Eight months later, I am proud to share that I have acquired the education and certifications necessary and love coaching my clients and seeing them evolve.
I am living proof that you can change your habits by changing your thoughts and beliefs. I am here to help you every step of the way.
